Who is responsible for tools/equipment?
You are responsible for any damage to, or the theft of any equipment on hire to you. Hired machines need to be insured which Toolmach can offer at an additional cost.
What happens if I damage a machine?
Any damages will be billed at the cost price of the part(s) and labour to replace the part. Invoices of what we have paid for the part are available on request.
What happens if something goes missing?
All our plant equipment is fully checked against a list before delivery or collection to ensure everything is present and correct. If there is anything missing, we will charge for the cost of replacing the missing item/part including any costs for delivery or installation.
Do I need to hold a special license to operate machinery?
Legally, there is no requirement for an operator to hold a license. However, on bigger sites, general contractors usually require operators to hold certificates, such as CPCS, CMPE, IPAF etc. which Toolmach can organise a course for.
Are the machines fuelled?
All equipment is supplied with a full tank, and it is hirer’s reasonability to return with a full tank of the same fuel. All the fuel used is the responsibility of the hirer.
Will machinery/equipment come with certification?
Where relevant all equipment will be supplied with a Declaration of Conformity or a Report of Thorough Examination.
Is there a deposit?
If you are a company, you may open an account with us. Just email our accounts department for the account form. If you are an individual or do not wish to open an account, usually two documents of the hirer are enough, and no deposit is needed.
How long is a week hire?
A typical hire period is based on days and weeks. One day means that equipment is delivered and off hired on the same day. One week is based on 5 working days from Monday to Friday. Minimum hire periods apply to a number of items available. Should the period of hire be less than one week the basis of charging will be:
1 day - 60% of the weekly
2 days - 80% of the weekly
3-5 days - 100% of weekly rate
After the minimum weeks hire, each additional day is charged at 20% of the weekly rate.
Can I hire an equipment for half a day?
Of course you can hire for half a day, however, the charge will be a minimum hire for this particular item (it can be one day, or one week hire, for more information please contact one of our advisors)
